I have a quarter-sized round bruise right in the middle of my jawbone. W.T.F. I cannot think of a single thing that could have caused an amazingly purple bruise to show up right on my jawbone. It had to have happened yesterday, because I actually thought it was a giant cystic pimple trying to show up, so I put some peroxide on it and went to bed, and it turned purple over night and keeps getting MORE PURPLE. This is especially great as I am supposed to meet people from my code bootcamp on Thursday evening, and ... awkward first impression? IDK, you guys. Also, I'm really not good enough at makeup to successfully conceal it.

...whoa, weird! I have no idea. Mysterious hickey monsters in the night? Flailed at yourself in your sleep? You could try icing it for the first 48 hrs to reduce the swelling and help it heal faster, but it may or may not be reduced enough by Thursday.

It mostly worked out, but I did have a really dark bruise on my chin for about a week. Thankfully, makeup mostly covered it. The thing that seemed to really finally kick it was a heating pad! I thought the internet was making shit up, but if you have an older bruise (ie, no longer swollen/help-able via ice) a heating pad or similar gets the blood moving around enough that it helps carry off the old blood that is causing the bruise.
