being Catholic, or not, as the case might be.

Synopsis: A while ago, I got over (most) of my religious angst about everything and decided that me and God were way cool, me and the Catholic church were less cool, but that was how I was raised and I don't feel comfortable in any other religious setting (not that I've searched all that much) so I'm Catholic. And this was helped by the realization that the overall Church is full of churchs that Do What They Want, with my home parish being a Prime Example. So, I'm a Do What I Want Catholic.

And then I started reading about the new Pope and I was reading shit like this and being mildly depressed about religion and ever actually having my spiritual needs met within the Church, and then I read this and about peed my pants. Who needs religious angst when you have Livejournal?

I agree. If God is, as Christianity insists, a loving, all-knowing God, then however we choose to believe is valid. And if you choose to skip the mundanity of the middleman (i.e. the physical church), you are no less. *hug* you're so smart!
