I saw Fall Out Boy yesterday and had a fabulous time. \o/

Because I managed to leave work late and Google lied to me about the location of the venue, I missed Cobra Starship. I am pretty disappointed about that. But hey! I got to drive across my favorite bridge! yes, I have a favorite bridge. WHAT?

I was completely uninterested in Paul Wall, so I went and did my merching, and helped a tiny little girl get the shirts she wanted. I am generally the least-bold thing ever, so it felt/feels really weird to be the go-getter in this situation. Is it because most of these kids are so young? I thought people knew that they were supposed to know what they wanted before they step up. And when you do, you make eye contact and speak loudly to the person doing the selling, and you too can get in and out with minimal fuss. Anywho. I have a tour teeshirt! \o/

The Academy Is...
I was off to the side, so I couldn’t see a whole lot of the stage, but Mr Beckett is SKINNY to the MAX. Like. I don’t even have any words. You know that picture(s) of Gerard wearing really tight pants? It was exactly like that, only he is skinnier. SO TEENY. I cannot emphasize enough his teenyess. I mean, I realize he’s normal height-wise, but I was honestly surprised he just didn’t float away. TEENY!

William also spent most of his time flouncing. He wasn’t prancing, he wasn’t striding, he was flouncing! I love it! He also made sure to give each of his instrumentalists a little love, leaning on them and whatnot. He also had a blast flinging his mic and stand around. At one point, he did a spiffy little trick where he threw the stand down, but then retrieved it with the mic cord! *is easily impressed*

I honestly didn’t recognize Siska without his crazy-ass hair. whoops! And the New Guy gets lots of points for being recognizably adorable even from a great distance. (plus, I hear he’s got a cute accent! /shallow) Mike Carden was mostly invisible to me, because I foolishly had not yet taken advantage of the empty seats nearby. Mostly, I saw his hair being very wet and flying around. I’m a wee bit sad I didn’t see much of the Butcher, but I will sacrifice small animalsmake sure I get a better spot on Monday.

William starts out wearing a jacket, and I start out taking crappy pictures.

William takes off his jacket, my pictures get better!

William spends a lot of time flailing his arms around. I love him for this.

I am not kidding about William’s skinnyness or Siska’s unrecognizableness.

More arm flailing, with bonus Siska and New Guy. (I keep calling him New Guy, because otherwise I feel the need to type out Michael Guy Chislett, because how can you not call a guy with that awesome of a name by all his names at once? Anyway, I’m lazy at typing is the actual answer) Note New Guy’s adorablness (Australian in origin, if I’m not mistaken).

ARMS! It’s almost \o/. Actually, its o/.

William crooned us a sweet song.

\o/ Three cheers for TAI!

I was sitting next to a woman and her small (presumably) daughter, and she was all ‘Hey, these guys are good!’ And I was all ‘Uh, yes! Yes they are!’ and I had momentarily forgotten that not everyone who goes to concerts is fanishly obsessive and would not necessarily know Cobra Starship or TAI, and I was kind of amused. It really makes (especially this kind of) concert one long-ass squee-fest! Also, I feel the need to note that on the screens between acts, it was an FBR/Decaydance video MARATHON! I know we saw Lying by Panic at least twice (Brendon’s mouth is really pretty, and was GIANT on the screen right above my head) and they played at least one Hush Sound song, and there were a couple by Gym Class Heroes and a couple by The Academy Is... Way to keep it in-house, boys!

Blink182 +44
I don’t actually care all that much about Blink+44. My only experience with Blink is that I had to sit through a very loud very strobe-light-filled set when I sent to see No Doubt that one time, and I like that one song of theirs. No, the other one. Something about turning around.

Anywho. I can get behind shirtless tattooed guitarists(?). With mohawks. \o/

Also, the drummer is an absolute blast to watch. I’m peeved that the lighting was always complete crap on him.

But mostly, I love them for letting me get to see Vicky T. and hear her sing.

And best of all? After they were done thanking her, on her way out, she threw up the most adorable cobra ever. Girlcrush to the MAX! I’m sad I didn’t get a picture. It was pretty much the best ever.

And I should also say that she walked past while I was chilling after the concert, and all I could think was “She really is that pretty up close too”. YAY VICKY T!!

Then, Fall Out Boy happened!! \o/ (also to the MAX)

Fall Out Boy

\o/

HI PATRICK!!!! They actually all came out wearing black, which made the visuals really nice, when they POPPED UP OUT OF THE FLOOR! And tickled me to death! MATCHING! Whatever will they think of next!! Everything about them fills me with glee.

Just for reference, the drum riserTOWER OF GIANTNESS. And I thought Bob Bryer had a tall drum riser.

Fall Out Boy did an excellent job of properly illuminating their drummer. I APPROVE! Even if he is wearing a shirt.

PATRICK! I mean. Um. He was really active and mobile and stuff. It was awesome!

There they are, all matching and twirling! Also, somewhat demoniacally lit. Sadly, it was not possible to get Andy in the shot. HIS DRUM RISER WAS TOO HIGH!

During "I'm Like A Lawyer...", Pete came up and leaned on Patrick and played on him for about 10 seconds or so. The whole thing just made my heart ache, both for the real them and for the fictional them. Just. I want them to be happy so very very badly.

I took a vid of the song, mostly the screen in back, because the boys are exceptionally beautiful in black and white. I'll post it when I get it shrunk down.

Back to their more usual outfits. <3 Pete and Joe were pretty much running all over the stage. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits. \o/

Andy finally got with the program!

There was a lot of awesome, startling FIRE! Patrick was totally serious when he said he wanted to do a show as big as MyChem’s Black Parade business. And they did. It was an awesome spectacle.

Every time I try to say something reasonable about how awesome Patrick was, and how well he sang, or the adorable little mini-bow he gave after playing Golden ON THE PIANO, I look at a picture and my brain just sort of melts and all I can think is HI PATRICK!!!!! Also, Joe’s giant hair makes me really really happy.

Pete was bouncing around too much for me to get actual good pictures. But he is made of puppies and adorable and hoodies and rolled up pant legs. He kept grinning at someone off stage (on my side). Your guess is as good as mine.

no, I’m not sure why I’m as charmed as I am by his pants leg. A mystery for the ages.

This is what it looks like, and it is made of WIN!

And then my camera battery died, and I did not get to photograph any of the bits where Andy came down and played in front. He is amazing. After One and Only (which I loved SO MUCH, Please To Be Having Patrick Cuss All The Time!), he did some awesome drum solo business and the camera showed us his feet on the big screens, and I totally saw the really cool double kick drum thing that [livejournal.com profile] sandwich_armada talked about. \o/ I <3 Andy the drum god!

Speaking of awesometastic songs, they played Grenade Jumper! WHEEEE! I do love that song!! Pete was all ‘this has been an awesometastic show, and usually with stuff this big, you can’t do something spontanious, but we’re going to do something spontanious, because you all rock!’ and then he dedicated it to his guitar tech, and then they played it and I jumped around like a fool some more.

And then some other stuff happened, and I jumped around and screamed along to Saturday, and by the time the concert was over, I was tired and sweaty and my throat hurt, which is exactly how concerts should be.

I wandered around a little, and went to find my car only to realize I parked in exactly the opposite direction. And then I decided I was too wired to want to drive just yet, so I chilled on the curb and watched the security dude mock all the people waiting for autographs. He seemed pretty convinced that they had already left, so who knows. After I felt sufficiently calmed, I headed off and called [livejournal.com profile] mitchco to let her know that I was not dead in the wilds of New Jersey and to squee a bit, and ended up talking for most of the way home. <3

I just did this \o/ at my computer screen!! YAY Andy and Patrick and Peter and Joe!! I don't think they could look much more adorable if they tried. I'm fiercely looking forward to seeing that drum solo for myself now. :D

YAY! \o/
I swear, I just want to go see FOB all the time. Like, every week, at least.
Your pictures look really cool too!

Seeing FOB all the time would be AMAZING. My (not so) guilty wish is to be able to follow them around on tour for a couple weeks.

Thank you! I had a lot of fun taking them.
