But he does make a nice (if weird and 'what of these four does not belong') blank slate. Also, he totally wasn't cute enough for Pete to brainwash. Poor Brent. Rejected by the cult leader and cast aside. All his friends are Deeply Indignant on his behalf, but he isn't angry and they don't get it. He just wants to be Good Enough. And so he sits around and has lots of inarticulate longing. And stuff. Or maybe something else happens. What do I know.
