Please let it be known that I think fic awards are absolutely the MOST retarded thing on the face of the planetfandom. I hates them, precious. I hate them so much that if you post with anything that in anyway resembles "VOTE FOR MEEEEEE", I will go vote, for the express purpose of VOTING AGAINST YOU. And that goes doubly if your "VOTE FOR MEEEEE" includes a sideways jab at one of my most favorite authors. It will make me wish I had sockpuppets so I could vote against you MORE THAN ONCE.

OH, hey, so it's Christmas! It's pretty sweet, I made it home easily and safely. It's fucking cold in Ohio, compared with Texas, and my family keeps making fun of me for being cold all the time. I think I have all the presents I need, for the giving to people, they just require some sort of wrapping action. But really, would it be Christmas Eve if I was not wrapping presents after getting home from Midnight Mass? I THINK NOT. Sometimes, I wish I was awesome and on top of it enough to send some of my Eljay friends pressies, but I know myself, and I'm terrible at timely present-giving in the best of circumstances.

I've been pretty amazingly delighted with some of the fic posted recently. The Holly Golightly Club was pretty much a delight, especially with the way the Pete and Mikey storyline turned out. I was a bit worried about that one for a while. And the Bookstore AU that was posted just the other day? Puppies and kitties have nothing on the absolute adorableness in that story. And the Bob/Frank/Jamia futurekidfic was one of those stories I've desperately needed and never knew it. It has pretty much all of my favorite things. And I have a whole stack of things bookmarked for later reading, if I ever have free time ever again. (HAHA YEAH RIGHT) And even as we speak, my flist is trying to pimp me some more good fic, so really, life is good.

I should also put on my fic-pimp hat, as I finally figured out which story to rec for geneli4's underappreciated fic rec meme thingie. I don't know when she started it, but tigs is writing this fabulous thing called Snapshots from a Possible Future. It's a whole loooong ongoing series of snippets from what could 'happen next' for a whole slew of bandom boys, and it makes me clap my hands with joy. It's Patrick-centric, and. yes. HANDCLAPS OF JOY! I guess I don't actually know how appreciated/unappreciated it is, but not too many people seem to have it bookmarked on del.icio.us, so I'm going with that.

I want to pimp the FBI AU by stele3. So, Alicia and LynZ are FBI agents, right... I love it! It's fun and engaging and kinda crack-y and maybe shouldn't work but does (which is really my most favorite genre ever, tbh). But, I do have two warnings. 1) It is unfinished, not WIP. 2) It's pre-het (I know that's not some people's cuppa). But it's really really worth it!

I want to pimp Planned Mistakes by laniew1. Her summary: It was like he was stuck in some awful version of telephone. Except instead of Ryan ending up with something like leprosy or bad hair or something, he was involved in an affair with Mikey Way that he'd managed to keep secret from everyone.

It's WIP, of course, but I really like it, and I really like where she's going. Her Ryan is going to be one of my favorites, I think! Give it a looksee!

I'm up in the wilds of Wisconsin on Family reunion. It could be better, but it could be worse. At least I have internets, even if they're Really Slow. I went kayaking yesterday, and now my shoulders are really sore. \o/

I'm all peeved with Eljay right now. I can appreciate that there are a lot of things driving this that I don't really understand and/or know enough about, in terms of legal and political climate and the internet, but I can be legitimately pissed the fuck off about them being a shitty company with shitty customer service.

( And the culmination of this whole business is just a huge smack in the face. To the rest of the world, fandom IS perverted and obscene and the old 'rules' about how you were supposed to keep fandom on the down low still apply, possibly now more than ever. And it hurts and pisses me off, in equal measures. ) Anyway, I would like to again point out that there are other places to post fic, a few of which I linked here.

- Gerard is apparently no longer engaged? (I lost the link, sorry.) On the one hand, that's really too bad for him. That must be rough. On the much more shallow hand, his hair immediately started looking MUCH better. No one can say that I don't have my priorities straight.

- Frank has taken to stage diving. OMFG. Equal parts delight and worry! And I thought he couldn't get any more awesome. Also, this one where he has to be physically carried away from the fans by Worm. He makes my heart hurt with GLEE!

- geneli4 writes a nice little bit here. I just want to roll up in it.

- gigantic posts a PATRICK PICSPAM (part 1 and part 2) and also a misc. favorite pictures picspam. \0/ I LOVE PATRICK! I've just spent quite a bit of time making squeeky noises on my parents couch over those.

- Which brings me to the Best Fan Video (as found by gigantic), documenting Patrick's shoe thing. \0/ I want Patrick/Spencer/La Timberlake (and possibly T. Ritter, because whenever I see his shoes, I GIGGLE A LOT) shoe-shopping/collecting fic. YOU KNOW IT WOULD BE AMAZING.

- The Circuit City interview cracks my shit up. They all seem kind of tired and Patrick talks a lot and their barely-concealed amusement/irritation at the interviewer's first question has me giggling. Also, interviews that were obviously done months ago are kind of hilarious. Also, Patrick and Andy's complete unwillingness to answer the dating question is adorable.

- I'm still working on that mental purge about the that one video that I wish I had never watched, and generally I can't bring myself to care one way or another about girlfriends, but this is just sweet.

- And in case you were wondering, the answer to the question "HOW VERY MUCH DO I LOVE THE BUTCHER?" is still "OH SO VERY MUCH".

Slightly less gleeful: The preview for Panic!'s new video both intrigues and repels me. I guess we'll see. I guess I'm just completely WTF on the whole PORN+MIMES equation. Oh RyRo, your brain is a scary scary place.

Somehow, the end of the week took a gigantic nosedive, and so I've spent the day chilling in bed with my fannish happy place(s). Namely, the Making the Video of Arms Race (courtesy of icecreamhdaches) and Polaris and Each touch belongs to each new sound, both by eleanor_lavish.

Also, an awesome MCR interview in Australia was posted on mychemicalmedia, and it is adorable to the MAX. They are all exhausted and out of it, and Gerard does a lot of leaning on things, and lots of waving and flexing of hands. It was pretty awesome.
