Just a moment of your time.

I'm just gonna keep pimping this one: Part 3 of
nafs Patrick/Nick Moments When You Can't Deny What's True is up!
I'm up in the wilds of Wisconsin on Family reunion. It could be better, but it could be worse. At least I have internets, even if they're Really Slow. I went kayaking yesterday, and now my shoulders are really sore. \o/
I'm all peeved with Eljay right now. I can appreciate that there are a lot of things driving this that I don't really understand and/or know enough about, in terms of legal and political climate and the internet, but I can be legitimately pissed the fuck off about them being a shitty company with shitty customer service.
And the culmination of this whole business is just a huge smack in the face. To the rest of the world, fandom IS perverted and obscene and the old 'rules' about how you were supposed to keep fandom on the down low still apply, possibly now more than ever. And it hurts and pisses me off, in equal measures.
synecdochic says some interesting things here and here, and it all makes sense, even if I don't like it. She makes the excellent point that if you are concerned with these things, you are supporting the EFF and ACLU and any other like-minded organizations with everything you can possibly manage.
Then there is this (which I disagree with 99% of) but does make the excellent point that fandom in general is considered strange and perverse by the rest of the world, not even getting into the sexually explicit stuff. And then there is this comment thread on one of the news posts and this post by
stonedtodeath, and I'm just feeling like I just got suckerpunched. And as someone who has just about never experienced physical violence, it's the shock more than the pain that hurts. Anyway, I would like to again point out that there are other places to post fic, a few of which I linked here.
