Please let it be known that I think fic awards are absolutely the MOST retarded thing on the face of the planetfandom. I hates them, precious. I hate them so much that if you post with anything that in anyway resembles "VOTE FOR MEEEEEE", I will go vote, for the express purpose of VOTING AGAINST YOU. And that goes doubly if your "VOTE FOR MEEEEE" includes a sideways jab at one of my most favorite authors. It will make me wish I had sockpuppets so I could vote against you MORE THAN ONCE.

OH, hey, so it's Christmas! It's pretty sweet, I made it home easily and safely. It's fucking cold in Ohio, compared with Texas, and my family keeps making fun of me for being cold all the time. I think I have all the presents I need, for the giving to people, they just require some sort of wrapping action. But really, would it be Christmas Eve if I was not wrapping presents after getting home from Midnight Mass? I THINK NOT. Sometimes, I wish I was awesome and on top of it enough to send some of my Eljay friends pressies, but I know myself, and I'm terrible at timely present-giving in the best of circumstances.

I've been pretty amazingly delighted with some of the fic posted recently. The Holly Golightly Club was pretty much a delight, especially with the way the Pete and Mikey storyline turned out. I was a bit worried about that one for a while. And the Bookstore AU that was posted just the other day? Puppies and kitties have nothing on the absolute adorableness in that story. And the Bob/Frank/Jamia futurekidfic was one of those stories I've desperately needed and never knew it. It has pretty much all of my favorite things. And I have a whole stack of things bookmarked for later reading, if I ever have free time ever again. (HAHA YEAH RIGHT) And even as we speak, my flist is trying to pimp me some more good fic, so really, life is good.

I should also put on my fic-pimp hat, as I finally figured out which story to rec for geneli4's underappreciated fic rec meme thingie. I don't know when she started it, but tigs is writing this fabulous thing called Snapshots from a Possible Future. It's a whole loooong ongoing series of snippets from what could 'happen next' for a whole slew of bandom boys, and it makes me clap my hands with joy. It's Patrick-centric, and. yes. HANDCLAPS OF JOY! I guess I don't actually know how appreciated/unappreciated it is, but not too many people seem to have it bookmarked on del.icio.us, so I'm going with that.

I got nominated for the fic awards, but beyond letting people know that it was okay that they'd nominated me, I've been pretty much ignoring them. I can just see sooo much wank erupting from it, and after the 'dyw sucks' wank and the pairing wank, I was enjoying our small wank-free period, dammit!

And yay, glad you got home safe! Good luck with the last minute wrapping--I have been there, my friend. :)

I actually managed to miss the entire pairing wank, thank god. Fic-awards seem just MADE for inciting wank, it's true. The entire process puts up my back. Why is it not enough for people to just rec stuff to each other?

Thanks! I'll be up a little late tonight, but I think it should all work out. There aren't that many presents that need to be wrapped by tomorrow!
