Oh man. I am so glad I got to go!

I had to work, so I ended up leaving late, which meant I got to DC at almost exactly 6 when the doors were opening. Driving past the venue looking for parking, I was impressed by the GIGANTIC line outside, especially as it was ASSFUCK cold. SOSOCOLD. After taking forever to find parking, I walked to the end of the line, muttering "oh my fucking god, you have got to be shitting me" the entire time. Obvs, I have not been to many shows recently and the ones I have gone to have not been like this. I did note that it looked like a large portion of the crowd was from the under-16 set. It made for a very interesting pit later on.

At any rate, the line moved very quickly, I was quite impressed. I got inside, scoped out the merch, and got in line. I just missed getting the meet&greet preorder business. I probably could have gotten one if I had caught on sooner to what was going on, but I'm slow on the uptake like that. Apparently, they were only giving out 100 wristbands instead of 200. Or something. They guys at the merch booth were trying to not talk smack in front of the fans. It was cute. Instead of a CD, I got a girls tour shirt! [loves on shirt] Mostly, I'm not a huge fan of wearing other peoples logos, but I really really like this shirt.

After that business, I went and found a spot on the floor. I thought it would be cool and work out. I was 6 or 7 rows back and off to one side a bit, right behind a mother and three preteenish girls and next to some late-20iesish couple. So far so good.

I felt kind of bad for the other bands playing, as it was superduper obvious that pretty much everyone in the venue was there for Fall Out Boy. New Found Glory got the best response, out of all of them.

Fall Out Boy!! As New Found Glory left the stage, it suddenly became IMPOSSIBLE to move. Everyone on the floor was SQUISHED together. It was BLAZING HOT. The floor thing was looking like less and less of an awesome idea. I was mildly impressed by how well most of the teenies were holding up. I thanked the Baby Jesus that I had decided that layers over a tank was the way to go, as I stripped off everything else and tied it around my waist.

When the lights went out for Fall Out Boy, everyone pretty much went NUTS. It became MORE THAN SQUASHED. Now, I don't have a whole lot of concert pit experience, but I sortof thought that you were supposed to be able to breath. After the second song, Pete was all "Wow, you guys are packed in there like sardines! Could everyone take one step back?" Sadly, it didn't really help. And most of the people around me were really young and also had little to no pit experience, so they were all just kinda standing there being pushed around by the crowd. After a couple more songs, I decided I needed to be somewhere where my feet could touch the floor enough for me to jump around a little. I moved off to the side a bit, which turned out to be an awesome plan!

I could still see pretty well, I had some breathing room, and the people around me didn't seem to be irked my my bouncing, dancing ways. They played all my favorites, and I got to dance to my little hearts content.

THIS AIN'T A SCENE... Pete warmed up the crowd for this one by having everyone practice screaming GODDAMN!!! with him. It made me laugh really hard. Oh, those poor kids with their parents! The best part of that, was that earlier in the evening, one of the other bands was talking about FOB and did a whole "it's a motherfucking goddamn bleepitybleepbleep arms race" kinda deal. OH NOES THE PROFANITY. THINK OF THE CHILDREN. The crowd really went nuts for this one. Everyone screaming GOD! DAMN! ARMS! RACE! LOVE THAT SONG SO MUCH. Also, they played all of my other favorites, so I am a happy camper. Also, they played Thriller, which I don't really know the words to yet, and I can't freaking wait for the album to come out!

I read something in someone else's concert recap to the effect of how seeing them live really reinforced how Pete was really the band's frontman, and it's so true. Like, I couldn't really picture how that was going to work out, exactly, but it does, and very well. He's the one who is all "TALK TO ME CROWD". Unrelated, but the hoodie he's been wearing is even uglier in person, if that is even possible. Dear Pete, I love you and your fugtastic clothes! love, me.

Patrick is freaking adorable and his stage 'banter' seems to mostly consist of making cute faces INTO THE MICROPHONE in response to whatever Pete is saying. Pete did a little bit about "Thank god for the internet, how else would we know Patrick was married... and dead." and Patrick makes a 'yikes!' face INTO THE MICROPHONE. I still can't get over that part.

I wish I could have seen Andy more. From where I ended up, he had a cymbal for a head. But I could see his tattoos, and they are rillly rillllly pretty, even from far away. Yay no shirts! I love watching drummers.

Joe is kind of amazing. He is on the move just as much as Pete is, with the jumping and running and spinning and ROCKING. Also, the spitting! But I was not anywhere near that one. Also, his "I'm rocking out RIGHT NOW" face is hilarious! Too bad none of my pictures of him turned out.

There was a big camera on a GIGANTIC boom stand kinda thing, so I'm assuming there will be a video of some kind at some point! It kept doing these sweeps just above the crowd, toward the stage. It really looked like it people were jumping at all, they were going to hit their head, it was that low. But I guess everything worked out ok.

During Saturday, Pete did his 'get into the crowd' thang. It looked pretty nutso!

My only disappointment for this show was that they didn't play for longer. When they were done, I was nowhere near ready for it. Of course, they probably could have played all night and I wouldn't have been ready for them to be done until I collapsed from exhaustion, but whatever. One and only sadness.

Other Things That Would Be Cool, But For Which I Do Not Harbor Sadness or Regret:
- I wish I knew someone in the DC/Bmore area to have gone with. Squee shared is squee magnified X ELEVENTYBILLION!!!!!11!
- I wish I could go again!!! I decided that for my one show, I really needed to go and get my rock on. But if I could go again, I'd do a balcony position, so I could see a bit better and take more pictures.

And in conclusion, THERE IS NO FORCE ON EARTH THAT WILL STOP BE FROM GOING TO AS MANY SHOWS ON THEIR SUMMER TOUR AS I CAN REASONABLY AFFORD. How's that for a ringing declaration of intent?

OH LOOK IT'S THE ONE PICTURE I TOOK WORTH LOOKING AT!

(did I mention how Andy's tattoos are superDUPER SMOKIN' in person? yes?)

The rest of the recognizable pics are in a gallery here.

Oh my yes.

I'm desperately holding my breath for confirmed tour dates for the summer so I can figure if I can plan my trip back to NY for it.

(And OH GOD!!! I REALLY REALLY REEEEAAAALLY WISH I"D BEEN ABLE TO SEE A SHOW THIS TOUR! I would have LOVED to have seen them in a small venue. Now I'm going to have to rely on my ticket mojo for decent seats)

*dies*

At the Hard Rock show in NYC it was "I never knew Patrick was gay and pregnant" and Patrick just shook his head.
