The Cab on 11/29
I actually made it to the show! I got there a little after 8:30, and caught all but the first two songs, I think. It was the tiniest, shittiest little bar I've been to since my friend had a humongous crush on the douchey lead singer of a shitty little band in college. \o/ But there was somewhere between 10 and 15 people standing around watching. No one seemed Really Into It, but they were like that for ALL the bands. I called Lex for a few of the songs, and she was super-excited about it, so all in all, a good evening. They played two of their newer songs that I recognized, and probably some of their older ones, but I've only had time to listen to them a couple times apiece, so I couldn't tell you which ones. They sounded good, and I can see where Pete Wentz thinks they'll get better. Sorry for the lack of pictures and video. I also managed to charge my camera battery, but then leave both it and the camera sitting on the counter at home.

(Unrelated to their musical prowess, they all dress like freaking cartoon characters. Lead Singer Alex was wearing his crazy hair (WHICH IS CRAZY), a red tshirt with a black silk-looking vest over, skinny black jeans and white hightop sneakers! Helloooo 80's! All I could think is that a) THEY WEREN'T EVEN BORN IN THE 80's! and b) I FEEL SORT OF WEIRD/OLD SEEING FASHION RECYCLE LIKE THAT. And they all had something like that going on. It was precious. They'll get on like a house on fire with the Cobra.)

The second band (We Shot The Moon, I think) I liked, and Brighten was okay, and their bassist was trying to get people really into it, which I liked, but their music didn't grab me, particularly. And I guess The Cab actually plays second, because I only saw 3 bands, so good to know for those of you who are planning on getting there late like me!

Lead Singer Alex passed out the FBR/Decaydance Summer Sampler CD, which was kinda Really Cute, and was really nice and complimented my hoodie. And then I was a giant wierdo at him, because I SUCK at talking to people sometimes. whoops! I think I passed on Lex's regards, but I was busy being hard of hearing and tired and socially awkward, but hopefully he didn't mind too much. I also introduced myself to Ian (who also has awesome hair!) and said I liked the set, and he seemed pretty pleased to hear it. His hair is awesome, and he was wearing the most awesomely 80's black leather jacket. It made me giggle. And, while we're being gigantic stalkerish weirdos, Lead Singer Alex totally has the requisite Sidekick (or at least something that looks like it to my inexperienced eye). *cue additional giggling*

The Cobra
Apparently getting tickets has been quite the adventure. COBRA, YOU ARE AWESOME AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU! I was a little worried about getting my ticket, because I had an All Day Conference About Science, at which I was Grown Up and A Scientist, but I didn't have any trouble getting my ticket for Austin when I got back. Maybe because it isn't linked from the Cobra website yet, or maybe because all the HXC Cobra fans already bought the presale tickets and thus don't need any more. If you know of anyone in the area who is wanting tickets to the Austin show, they just have to go to the venue's website and the tickets linked from there (they're on TicketWeb). But yes. FANGS UP!
